I can't remember going to bed the night before my first ECT. Or giving my permission or my wife giving her consent, but she did and for my part I was so confused I would've agreed to be shot at point-blank range by a firing squad. Barry Dickins wrote the stage play ‘Remember Ronald Ryan’ for The Playbox Theatre Company, which in 1995 won The Louis Esson Prize For Drama at the Victorian Premier’s Awards, as well as The Amnesty Prize For Peace Through Art. Here the story is told for the first time as prose.
