Based on the French master Henri Matisse's publication of "Jazz, " a book of prints made from his cutout collages combining circus and theatrical imagery around a central theme of improvisation and variation. "Matisse Jazz 2015 Wall Calendar" features 12 of the most playful and powerful plates from "Jazz." Late in his career, iconic modern artist Henri Matisse began to explore creative cut-paper collages as an alternative to brushwork, a technique he called "painting with scissors." Often large in scale, these "gouaches decoupes" enabled Matisse to bring his eye for color and geometry to an all-new medium. The experiment reached its fullest flower with the publication of "Jazz" in 1947.
