Impressionist Claude Monet—master gardener, horticulturist, and painter—spent decades creating a tapestry of hues and textures in the flowers and foliage surrounding his Giverny home, his “quiet corner of nature.” Photographer and horticultural designer Elizabeth Murray fell in love with Monet’s gardens on her first visit to the Giverny estate in 1984. She volunteered for the restoration project and returns regularly to record the daily and seasonal transformations. Murray’s firsthand knowledge of the grounds illuminates the vivid photographs and accompanying descriptions in this calendar.
