Glasgow artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh created graceful decorative complements to the buildings he designed, employing a holistic approach to interiors and urging fellow architects to do the same. A leading figure in the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements, Mackintosh turned to fine fabrics after retiring from architecture and worked alongside his wife, renowned decorative artist Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh. He sold his designs of rich curves, organic geometry, and repeated motifs to England’s leading textile producers. Eleven images by Mackintosh and one from Margaret have been adapted for reproduction in this calendar.
