Thomas the Tank Engine was written in 1945 by Reverend Awdry to entertain his sick son. From such inauspicious beginnings, Thomas the Tank Engine has starred in 26 classic tales and countless novelty and story books, been given his own television show narrated by the likes of Ringo Starr and Pierce Brosnon, made it to the big screen, and has delighted children every step of the way!
