Max Allen
Max Allen is one of Australia’s best wine writers. He is a regular columnist for The Weekend Australian Magazine and G, among other publications, and is wine editor for Australian Gourmet Traveller. He runs popular wine education courses in Melbourne and is a regular presenter and judge at wine tastings around the world. He is also a fervent supporter of biodynamic wines and sustainable wine production.
Max’s publications include Red and White: Wine Made Simple; Yarra Valley Wineguide; Sniff, Swirl and Slurp; Crush: The New Australian Wine Book; and The Really Useful Pocket Wine Book.
Allen has won numerous awards for his writing, including the prestigious Andre Simon Memorial Award in 1999 and Wine Communicator of the Year Trophy, awarded by the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London in 2003.
